We're one week into this new year, and if you're anything like me – you're probably fired up and ready to kick down doors in 2022.
The year 2022 is now upon us. Woohoo!!!
I'm excited for where the year is headed, I've set some ambitious goals, and I'm doing the hard work of reflecting on last year.
So, before we jump into my goals for 2022, I want to take this opportunity to share with you what I learned after completing the Year-End Review Template.
My Reflections of 2021
What were my goals?
The first goal I had for 2021 was to rebrand and relaunch Diversity in Cinema Academy.
The second goal I had for 2021 was to launch a YouTube channel.
The third goal I had for 2021 was to launch an online filmmaking course.
What actually happened?
I rebranded and relaunched Diversity in Cinema Academy, which included:
A whole new website
Writing weekly blogs
Writing newsletters
Creating Instagram reels
Creating social media content and...
Creating weekly Tips Tuesday's videos
I designed and released the "FILM: Future Icon Leading Motion Pictures" Notebook.
I wrote, designed, and released "Leveling Up Your Film Business," an interactive workbook for aspiring indie filmmakers.
I partnered with several brands via affiliate marketing.
Why did it happen?
At the start of 2021, I wrote a blog laying out my goals and vision. You can check it out here: Diversity in Cinema Academy's 2021 Goals.
However, midway through the year, I decided it was a good time to reflect on my 2021 goals to see if I was accomplishing what I intended to do or if I needed to shift gears.
And, I did just that…
At that time, I decided to shift my priorities to focus on creating essential tools for aspiring content creators and filmmakers.
However, I was working really hard behind the scenes on many projects, which required a lot of my time. So, I had to figure out which goals I could place at a lower priority so I could create tangible tools for aspiring indie filmmakers.
First off, I noticed that my Tips Tuesday videos and Instagram Live videos were very similar to creating content for YouTube. So, although I didn't start my YouTube channel, I was still in the realm of creating video tutorials to help communicate and solve filmmaking problems for beginner filmmakers.
However, I quickly realized those tasks were highly time-consuming. So, that's when I decided to shift gears and place those tasks at a lower priority. With that being said, I knew launching a YouTube channel in 2021 would not become a reality.
What lessons did you learn?
The biggest lesson learned is that planning, organizing, creating, and executing an objective takes a lot more time than I thought—especially working as a solopreneur.
What can I do better next time?
I would adequately plan, organize, and track each goal, project, and task with Asana's project time management tool.
Now that I've completed some much-needed reflection and introspection, I'm ready to set my intentions for 2022!
Diversity in Cinema Academy has been busy coming up with new goals for 2022, and I wanted to share the biggest ones with you.
The first goal I have for 2022 is working with beta clients.
I will be coaching up to five 1:1 Beta Clients for approximately six weeks. Each client will get full access to the "Leveling Up Your Film Business" online course as I build out the curriculum. They will be instrumental in the design of the course, but at the same time, they will be getting personal coaching from me weekly.
The second goal for 2022 is launching my online course, Leveling Up Your Film Business.
"Leveling Up Your Film Business" will guide you to make educated decisions about what business model works best for your career aspirations, whether it's a movie or a service-based business.
The lessons you will take part in will guide you through the exact components you need to avoid costly mistakes and the essentials you MUST have to operate your movie production.
The third goal I have for 2022 is creating and releasing digital production documents.
There are a ton of free production documents floating around on the internet. I even downloaded some of those documents when I started my filmmaking career. However, the one thing that I noticed since I've been in this industry—those forms are VERY OUTDATED. It's no telling how long those forms have been floating around. I started in the industry over a decade ago, and they were OUTDATED then. I just didn't know any better.
That's why I decided to create some new, more relevant forms for today's digital creators.
The fourth goal I have for 2022 is launching my YouTube Channel.
This goal is still on my to-do list. Providing bite-size, digestible video content is an excellent component of online learning. Plus, weekly video content creates a level of familiarity and trust to have a much more personal connection with our community of filmmakers and content creators.
There's nothing like sharing your goals with your virtual friends to make sure we stay accountable and actually work towards completing our goals!
What about you? What is your #1 goal for 2022?
Hit reply and let me know. It makes me happy to learn more about your goals and desires.
Here's to a productive 2022!

Diversity in Cinema Academy has many other resources that I love to share with you, but I wanted to keep this blog strictly about my 2022 goals for Diversity in Cinema Academy.
If I had to pick two resources I couldn't live without for starting a film production, it would be these two tools.
Tool #2 - GVM Video Lighting Kit
Aside from the tools above, I also use many other resources to help me prep for a movie production. Some of them are FREE and some are paid.
You can check out some of the other resources that I love using on Diversity in Cinema Academy's resources page. You can view all of the resources for Filmmakers, Content Creators and Screenwriters from the links provided.
From filmmaking tools, to content creation tools, to screenwriting tools... they all can be found in the tools section of Diversity in Cinema Academy's website. I highly recommend that you check out our tools store! :)
If you like it, please help me to share the resources link with a friend. I would really appreciate it!
Okay, that's all for now. I hope that you have found the information I provided helpful!
